[Kirkland, WA – WBHG News] – It’s been more than seven months since President Donald Trump was inaugurated after campaigning on controlling inflation to lower grocery and fuel prices. Two hundred and seventeen days later, has the situation improved?

On January 21, 2025, our team benchmarked grocery, fuel, and fast food prices in Kirkland to track over the next four years. This is our seventh update.

Based on actual retail prices, today’s grocery trip costs $2.70 more than last month and $7.23 more than our first trip in January. The price of hamburger, Oscar Meyer all-beef hotdogs, Red Baron pizza, Oreo cookies, and Hidden Valley ranch dressing increased, while the price of Land-O-Lakes butter dropped for the second month in a row.

Today’s bill increased from $239.83 to $243.53, a 1.5% increase from last month.

A 12-gallon fill-up of regular gasoline increased 72 cents from a month ago, factoring in the 6-cent increase in gasoline tax that went into effect on July 1. Gasoline is now 43 cents a gallon higher than it was on January 21.

The prices of a Taco Bell 3 Crunch Taco Combo increased by 30 cents, the first jump in popular fast food items we track at the chain, along with McDonald’s and Domino’s.

Here are the Products

We are tracking the prices of 27 popular items, including regular unleaded gasoline and meals from three major fast food brands.
